The Young Bird inventory has been updated on the Web. I still have all of the birds, with the exception of the people I have called. I have not lost any birds since the end of the replacement period, but all of the birds have been out quite a bit.
The oldest birds have been out to 5 miles. Not far enough to lose them yet, but plenty far enough so that they shouldn’t get lost by a Hawk attack.
All birds have had the 9th and 10th flight pulled. They have all been vaccinated for Pox. PMV was completed upon arrival.
The oldest birds have begun pairing up. There are several that share nest boxes and they can do that for another couple of months.
The youngest birds are “in the dark”. They are progressing through a heavy body molt now, and look pretty bad. They will remain there until mid-July. They have all been “tossed” from the garage roof, about 70 yards away from the loft. They do not loft fly as good as I had hoped for at this point, but they will be getting out a lot more now.
All is well otherwise. Their health appears good and the birds feel good. I look forward to a GREAT race!!.
